Abertis Foundation’s headquarter, located at Castellet Castle, is the UNESCO International Center on Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves (UNESCOMED).The Center is focused on the creation of the Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves Network, promoting and developing activities aimed at promoting the MaB program and the World Network of Biosphere Reserves. It represents a unique opportunity to foster the study and conservation of the Mediterranean area, establishing collaboration synergies in biodiversity management and use of natural resources between the two shores of the Mediterranean.
Castellet Castle holds the ISO 14001environmental management system certification. In addition, the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, the only global accreditation body in Sustainable Tourism and linked to the United Nations Organization, has recently granted the Abertis Foundation headquarters a certification of Responsible Biosphere Tourism. In the environmental field, at the Abertis Foundation we also work to reduce the carbon footprint generated by our economic activity and, in accordance with the objectives of the Abertis Group, we optimize waste management and promote the conservation of biodiversity of the natural spaces where we are present.
