Abertis has attained maximum recognition from the Carbon Disclosure Project, which has included the company in its ‘A’ list. This list recognises organisations that are spearheading actions to reduce emissions and mitigate climate change. Abertis is part of the group of 9% of the total to receive maximum recognition for its endeavours in this area from among the thousands of companies analysed.
The accolade was accepted on behalf of the Group by Sergi Loughney, Abertis’ Director of Institutional Relations and of Corporate Social Responsibility. According to Loughney: “Every one of the awards we receive is the result of the efforts of an entire Group which strives to demonstrate its steadfast commitment to sustainability and the environment.”
The Carbon Disclosure Project recognises companies that receive a high score for their initiatives to reduce greenhouse gases and demonstrate transparency in reporting their results.
Abertis considers calculation of our carbon footprint, expressed in tCO2e, to be essential in determining and focusing on priority areas and processes for action and in defining the organisation’s future carbon management strategy. For the Group, reducing equivalent CO2 emissions is an ongoing challenge and some of its key mitigating initiatives include the renewal of its fleet of vehicles, the carrying out of energy audits and improvements to its air conditioning and lighting systems.
CDP is an international not-for-profit organization providing the only global environmental disclosure system to businesses, investors, cities, states and regions.
