Administración Abertis,

  • The Belgian capital is now hosting this travelling project which, thanks to the collaboration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Abertis Foundation and the Fundació Joan Miró, exposes several pieces of Miró in Spanish Embassies and Consulates between 2019 and 2020.
  • The work set includes the paintings Personnage, Oiseau I, II, and III and the sculptures Femme, Oiseau and Femme, of early 70’s.
  • Abertis, via its Foundation, partnerships with cultural institutions to make culture accessible to the general public and to accompany Governments in countries in which it has a presence.

The itinerant exhibition "Universo Miró", organized thanks to the collaboration between the Abertis Foundation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain, and Fundació Joan Miró, was inaugurated today at the Embassy of Spain in Brussels, Belgium.

The workset includes paintings from 1973 Personnage, Oiseau I, II, and III, of simplified composition, where Miró magnifies the images until he occupies practically the whole canvas with an energetic gesture. The exhibition is completed with the sculptures Femme, Oiseau and Femme, both from the beginning of the 70’s, whom title and composition are based on the artist's signs vocabulary.

Brussels is the fourth stage of this travelling presentation which, after its passage through Rome, Berlin and Dublin, will travel to the embassy of Spain in Paris. The aim is to take this sample also to Spain's diplomatic and consular representations in other countries in 2020, especially in Latin America.

Also, in recent years, the Group has sponsored exhibitions by Joan Miró and other great artists such as Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Diego Velázquez or Antoni Gaudí, in cities such as Paris, Madrid, Rome, Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro or Santiago de Chile.

The Abertis Foundation was born in 1999 as a non-profit organization, with the objective of responding to the impact that the economic activity of the Abertis Group has on the different territories and countries where the Group is present. The Foundation has always given priority to actions related to road safety, the environment and social action, in line with Abertis Strategic Social Responsibility Plan and the Abertis Group's commitment to road safety.

The Fundació Joan Miró

The Fundació Joan Miró was created by the artist himself and opened its doors to the public in 1975. It has a unique collection of Joan Miró's works, his personal library and a file with all his preparatory drawings, which makes the Fundació a centre of reference in the investigation, divulgation and promotion of the production and the legacy of the artist.

Since its inauguration as the first museum in Barcelona dedicated to modern and contemporary art, the Fundació Joan Miró has also hosted numerous temporary exhibitions. It has also promoted the “Espai 13”, one of the first rooms dedicated to emerging artists and curators, and an active educational space focused on the promotion of creativity and a better understanding of modern and contemporary artistic practices.
