The itinerant exhibition "Universo Miró", organized thanks to the collaboration between theAbertis Foundation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation ofSpain, and Fundació Joan Miró, was inaugurated today at the Embassy of Spain in Dublin,Ireland.
The workset includes paintings from 1973 Personnage, Oiseau I, II, and III, of simplifiedcomposition, where Miró magnifies the images until he occupies practically the wholecanvas with an energetic gesture. The exhibition is completed with the sculptures Femme,Oiseau and Femme, both from the beginning of the 70’s, whom title and composition arebased on the artist's signs vocabulary.
Dublin is the third stage of this travelling presentation which, after its passage throughRome and Berlin, will travel to the embassies of Spain in Brussels and Paris. The aim is totake this sample also to Spain's diplomatic and consular representations in other countriesin 2020, especially in Latin America.
The director of the Abertis Foundation, Sergi Loughney of Irish origin, expresses "asatisfaction to have been able to bring this exhibition, in collaboration with our partnersand friends of the Fundació Joan Miró and the Ministry, to the Embassy of Spain in Dublin"."It is a personal honour to be able to work to strengthen the links between Ireland andSpain through the drive of culture and sports such as rugby," he says.
Also the director of the Fundació Joan Miró, Marko Daniel, has thanked both the Ministryof Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation and the Abertis Foundation for theircollaboration to make this project a reality, and has recalled that "since opening its doorsin 1975, the Fundació Joan Miró has had among its priorities the sharing of the artist’swork and legacy with the world. For more than thirty years, the Foundation has beenpromoting and developing international projects with the support of public and privateinstitutions."

The Fundació Joan Miró
The Fundació Joan Miró was created by the artist himself and opened its doors to the publicin 1975. It has a unique collection of Joan Miró's works, his personal library and a file with
all his preparatory drawings, which makes the Fundació a centre of reference in theinvestigation, divulgation and promotion of the production and the legacy of the artist.
Since its inauguration as the first museum in Barcelona dedicated to modern andcontemporary art, the Fundació Joan Miró has also hosted numerous temporary exhibitions.It has also promoted the “Espai 13”, one of the first rooms dedicated to emerging artistsand curators, and an active educational space focused on the promotion of creativity and abetter understanding of modern and contemporary artistic practices.

This summer, the public will be able to visit the wholly renewed Miró Universe touring exhibition at the Instituto Cervantes in Athens from 13 to 27July.
